Happy Mother's Day!

This Sunday we celebrate mothers. Not just the ones who birthed us but the ones who have loved mentored us and supported us along the way. I would not be who I am today without my tribe of women who mothered me when I needed it most.

But motherhood has only increased the need I have for other women in my life to support, guide, and show me the way.

This past month I felt quite lost as I navigated some motherhood firsts. I wrote about confronting my child's speech delay and exploring the potential underlying causes. I wasn't sure if I should write about something as I was living it, but the emotions were so raw I had to write to make sense of it all. I am grateful to my editor for allowing me such a space. This is something I could have only dreamed of before. I am also thankful to Josh for not only respecting my need to share this with the world but for actually encouraging me to write about it.

I had another motherhood first as I attended my first parent teacher conference. Something quite surprising happened there! I just knew I had to write about that too!

My friend and Vlogger at WeHaveIsshoes Linda had a first of her own. She gave birth to a sweet baby boy and ate her placenta. I'm convinced I should have too! It might sounds off-putting to some but the benefits are too great to discount. You can also check out her video on the topic.

Mothers Day is all about love. But in my short time as a mother I have understood that self-love remains the most important. I also wrote about how birthing my son forever altered the appearance of my body and the way I feel about it too. I never got my pre-baby body back but what I got in exchange was much more. There is more love now than there was before! Of course, there's always off days when I just want to look like Chrissy Teigen.

I hope you take the time to celebrate all the mommies in your life!
